Who We Are & What We Do

SHÉLA Global CIC is a community-driven organisation dedicated to supporting lesbian, bisexual and queer (LBQ) women and non-binary people whose experiences are often overlooked within both mainstream society and queer spaces.

We create safe, visible, and empowering spaces where LBQ women and gender-diverse people can connect, share their stories, and access opportunities that support their social, cultural, and economic well-being. At SHÉLA, we believe that visibility, connection, and empowerment are powerful tools for change. By building supportive networks and creating platforms for community-led dialogue, we aim to foster environments where LBQ women and non-binary people can thrive.

SHÉLA Voices – Storytelling Project is a transformative initiative by Shela, dedicated to uplifting queer black women through the power of shared narratives. Our project fosters connection and understanding by bringing forth the unique stories of these women, creating a vibrant tapestry of experiences that inspires and empowers our community. Join us in amplifying voices and building a supportive network through the art of storytelling.

The SHÉLA Research & Insights Initiative is a community-led project exploring LBQ women and non-binary experiences. We focus on service access, social wellbeing, safety, and representation to inform vital conversations, advocacy, and future initiatives. Through shared stories, we uplift queer black women and connect diverse voices in our movement.

SHÉLA Research & Insights Initiative

SHÉLA Events fosters LBQ culture with panel discussions, film screenings, arts showcases, and community gatherings, including Pride celebrations. These events create connection, celebration, and visibility, uplifting queer black women through shared stories and collaboration. Join us at Shela to engage, inspire, and connect with our dynamic community.

SHÉLA Cultural & Community Events

The SHÉLA Leadership & Empowerment Program helps LBQ women and non-binary individuals enhance their leadership skills and build confidence. Participants will benefit from mentorship, workshops, public speaking training, and community leadership development. Join us to uplift voices and empower leaders with authenticity and strength.
