Whether you are openly out, quietly exploring your identity, or simply looking for a space where you can connect with like-minded women, this event is for you.

Why SHÉLA Was Created

SHÉLA exists for women who love women.

The organisation was founded by women whose identities have been criminalised, marginalised, or misunderstood in the countries they call home. They created SHÉLA because many existing spaces did not fully reflect their experiences, cultures, or the realities they carried with them every day.

For us, this story is not simply our beginning. It is our foundation.

Our community includes women who are visibly out, women who are privately certain but publicly invisible, women who are still discovering the language to describe who they are, and women who live in environments where being open about their identity may put them at risk.

At SHÉLA, we believe participation should exist on a spectrum. Some women may wish to be fully visible. Others may choose to participate anonymously. Both are equally valued. Safety, dignity, and belonging are central to everything we do.
